About
I’m Mike Lanzetta — a Principal Architect at Microsoft ISE, based in Tokyo, where I lead data science discipline for North Asia. I work with enterprise customers to design and ship AI-native systems across embodied AI, autonomous networks, and AI for science.
Why The Inner Loop
After 20+ years shipping software at Amazon, Microsoft, and startups — from systems at Disney and the World Bank to real-time messaging protocols and large-scale ML pipelines — I started writing about the fundamental shift happening in how engineering teams work with AI.
The result is Hypervelocity Engineering: a framework my team developed for integrating AI into the engineering inner loop without sacrificing rigor. It started with a question — how do you move a team from “vibe coding” to disciplined AI-native development? — and became a 7-part series that documents what we’ve learned.
My latest work explores agentic orchestration at scale: the vteam-hybrid framework for managing specialized AI agent crews in production engineering workflows.
The Stack
I work across the full range of modern AI/ML: PyTorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI/GPT, Databricks, AzureML — wired together with Python, TypeScript, C#, and Rust. Deep background in distributed systems, real-time messaging (AMQP), and large-scale data processing (Spark).
Beyond Work
Tokyo transplant. Perpetual student of Japanese. Traveler when time allows.
